Architecture is currently enjoying tremendous popularity in India. Rapid rate of urbanization, shrinking spaces and special emphasis on environmental integrity has made architecture a hot career option for youths. Architecture engineering also known as building engineering refers to the planning, design and construction of buildings and related physical structures. Imposing buildings and majestic structures we come across in our daily lives are the handiwork of qualified architecture. A degree in architectural engineering from best architecture colleges in Rajasthan or any other Indian state can be your golden ticket to a high flying and successful career. You could either join a good architecture firm or decide to venture out on your own by offering architectural services for a fee.
Courses in Architecture
Aspiring architects need either a Bachelor’s degree (BArch) or diploma in architecture. The basic eligibility criterion for BArch courses is class XII or equivalent in science stream (physics, chemistry, and maths) from a recognised board or university with 50 per cent minimum marks. Besides, the candidate needs to clear an architecture entrance exam.
It is, however, important to note that obtaining admission in a good architectural college is not easy owing to the prevailing competition and craze for this technical course amongst students. Nowadays, architecture has become one of the most significant streams in the professional degrees whose popularity has become more or less equal to other prestigious and well-paying professional courses of study like finance, MBA, engineering, medicine, etc.
This has also heightened the competition. Some of the important test whose scores are accepted by a large majority of institutes offering architectural programs are mentioned as following:
All India Engineering Entrance Exams (AIEEE)
The All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) is now better known as JEE (Joint Engineering Entrance). The AIEEE is an all India level entrance examination for both engineering/architecture streams. However, it is important to note that it contains separate question patterns and structure for both engineering and architectural courses. The exam is divided into three parts: part 1, part 2 and part 3. In part 1, all the questions will be related to Mathematics. Part 2 contains aptitude type questions whereas part 3 contains engineering drawing questions. The duration of the exams is of three hours.
NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture)
This test comprises of two parts, comprising a paper based drawing test and a computer based online test. Both tests are evaluated separately and the final merit list is prepared after combining the score of both drawing and online test.
Drawing Test
The paper based drawing test is of two years duration. It consists of two questions, each with two sub questions. The drawing test would be provided with scores, based on the observation skills of the candidates and their drawing ability, their perspectives about colour, proportion, etc.
Future scope of architecture
The future scope for practitioners of this exciting and dynamic discipline as mentioned above is bright. The only thing you need to ensure is that you obtain your B. Arch degree from best architectural colleges in Jaipur or for that matter top grade colleges anywhere else in India. Well-established architectural colleges or institutes have the facility, infrastructure and expertise to deliver cutting-edge education in this stream. Students are offered enough exposure (both through classroom teaching and practical projects) in different aspects of architectural engineering such as transport planning, urban design, landscape design, interior design, rural planning, construction management, etc.
